Speak Up for Downtown Santa Rosa
The future of downtown Santa Rosa is up for grabs! Last year, Greenbelt Alliance and local partners won the campaign for a Station Area Plan that would create a walkable, bikable, diverse downtown. But now, the City is already starting to approve developments that don't meet the plan's goals.
More than 60 people came to the Planning Commission July meeting to make sure new development lives up to the community's vision! Contact Daisy Pistey-Lyhne at daisypl@greenbelt.org or (707) 575-3661 to get more involved.
Sonoma County Looks to the Future
In Sonoma County, the Board of Supervisors will soon be facing important
questions: how will the County reduce its contribution to global climate
change? What will the County do to ensure a consistently clean and plentiful
supply of water for residents? And how will the County limit sprawl development
from expanding onto farmlands and natural areas?
These questions will be answered as part of the update to the County’s
General Plan, the document that serves as the blueprint for the next
20 years of growth and development on the unincorporated lands outside
the cities. Given poor decisions made at the Planning Commission to weaken
policies in these important issue areas, it is more important now than
ever that residents get involved in this process. Greenbelt Alliance
needs members to tell Supervisors
that we need stronger protections.
