| | Sat Feb 28 | | Exploring San Bruno Mountain
South Bay - Greenbelt Outing
See dozens of species of early wildflowers and great views of San Francisco and the Bay as we walk along the spine of San Bruno Mountain. We'll view areas burned in a June 2008 fire and now lush with new growth. We may also see the rare, endangered Mission Blue Butterfly. Environmental historian David D. Schmidt will recount how efforts over the past 40 years have saved this island of botanical diversity in the midst of an urban area. Everyone driving on the 101 Freeway or taking off from SF Airport has seen the mountain from a distance, but you can only see its wildflowers by walking on its trails!

| | Sat Mar 21 | | Lynch Canyon Loop
Solano & Napa - Greenbelt Outing
Resident raptors and waterfowl love Lynch Canyon. Come observe a variety of bird species, hopefully including golden eagles, and learn about the human history of Lynch Canyon from native people to the time of settlement. Docents from the Solano Land Trust will provide their expertise about ornithology and history on this moderately difficult but leisurely-paced 4-mile hike with about 1000 ft of elevation gain. We'll hike along established access roads and trails, including a section of the Bay Area Ridge Trail.
Lynch Canyon, which is owned by the Solano Land Trust, is operated in partnership with Solano County Parks. This wild place offers more than 1,000 acres of green grasslands and oak woodlands, including views of Mt. Diablo, the Marin Headlands, and the Napa River Valley.
